The factory transfer case skid plate, if it's even present, really doesn't do much to protect the transfer case. If you do even mild off-roading, you should seriously consider upgrading to Rusty's Transfer Case Skid Plate. Trail Tested Tough, Rusty's ZJ skid plate is constructed of 1/4" thick laser-cut steel and mounts to both the t-case crossmember and the unibody for a solid protection. A black powder coated finish provides lasting durability and good looks. It comes with all the necessary hardware and complete installation instructions.
We have different versions for the 231 and 242 transfer cases. This version is for those that have swapped in the NP231 transfer case. It offers slightly better ground clearance since it doesn't require the extra bend needed to clear the larger NP242 / 247 / 249 transfer cases. If you still have the factory transfer case, you must use RS-JS16-ZJ
